Created and led by ACCIONS 3E, SUNCINE is a cultural and educational ecosystem made up of projects that share one conviction: a story can move us, help us understand reality and inspire us to act.
The International Environmental Film Festival lies at the heart of this ecosystem, but SUNCINE extends far beyond the days of the Festival. Throughout the year, its stories reach new audiences through education, digital platforms, family activities, travelling screenings and spaces for reflection.
Each project broadens the reach of environmental cinema and strengthens the same footprint: informing audiences, connecting people and encouraging a more conscious relationship with our shared planet.
The annual meeting point at the heart of the SUNCINE ecosystem.
The programme brings together outstanding environmental films from Spain and around the world, including premieres, competitive sections, emerging talent, guests, awards and activities that encourage dialogue between filmmakers, institutions, professionals and audiences.
Each screening becomes a shared space in which to experience, discuss and discover new perspectives on the environmental, social and human challenges of our time.
SUNCINE’s educational dimension.
This free platform turns environmental cinema into a teaching resource for use inside and outside the classroom. Films, curriculum materials and complementary activities allow students to explore the challenges facing the planet across different subjects and educational stages.
Cada Aula un Cine supports teachers and students while encouraging critical thinking, environmental awareness and the participation of younger generations.
The digital window of the ecosystem.
Through CaixaForum+, the SUNCINE Channel offers free access to a selection of environmental films and extends their reach beyond in-person screenings.
This digital dimension allows SUNCINE to reach viewers throughout Spain and connect new audiences with diverse, engaging and socially committed cinema.
Environmental cinema also travels.
SUNCINE screenings, travelling showcases, collaborations and activities connect films with cities, countries and communities.
Each place contributes its own realities, challenges and voices, turning every screening into an opportunity for people to meet, exchange ideas and reflect together.
A gateway to environmental cinema for younger audiences.
Animation, documentaries, school activities and family workshops introduce environmental values through emotion, creativity and discovery.
Sections such as Monarca and participatory activities allow families to share stories and encourage children to begin asking questions about the world they inhabit.
The conversation continues after the screening.
SUNCINE organises interviews, debates, professional events, university encounters and conversations with filmmakers, experts and organisations.
Projects such as SUNCINE Voices expand on the subjects explored on screen and create spaces for sharing knowledge, experience and possible responses to environmental challenges.
A strand of the ecosystem dedicated to waste, responsible consumption and circularity.
SUNCINE SUB uses cinema, public engagement and participatory activities to make these challenges visible and connect them with the choices we make in everyday life.
The SUNCINE ecosystem grows through a diverse network of creators, public and private institutions, schools, universities, environmental organisations, cultural platforms, media partners and committed companies.
These partnerships allow stories to travel further, reach new audiences and continue generating knowledge and environmental awareness.
SUNCINE does not begin or end in November. The Festival provides the moment of greatest public visibility, but it forms part of continuous work throughout the year:
Discover. We seek out new stories and support filmmakers who bring different perspectives to the challenges of our time.
Educate. We turn films into resources that encourage knowledge, environmental values and critical thinking.
Connect. We build bridges between filmmakers, audiences, educators, researchers, institutions and environmental organisations.
Share. We circulate stories through cinemas, classrooms, digital platforms, communities and the media.
Extend the footprint. The ideas, emotions and questions left by a film can continue transforming people and communities.
When the cinema lights come on and the credits begin to roll, the story does not end.
It continues in our conversations, in the questions we ask, in what we share and in the decisions we make. It continues in classrooms, families and communities, and in everyone who has discovered a new way of looking at the planet.
Every story can awaken awareness. Every person who becomes aware can take part in change.
