Confreences: Unknown fauna and climate change

SUNCINE – International Environmental Film Festival collaborates in the 4th Conference on Nature Conservation in the Alt Pirineu and Aran, to be held on November 15 and 16, 2025, in La Seu d’Urgell, under the theme “Unknown Fauna and Climate Change”.
As part of the event, the festival will present the world premiere of the documentary Beasts in Miniature in Spain, directed by Carlos Pérez, a production that highlights the richness and fragility of the smallest and often overlooked wildlife in our surroundings.
Through this participation, SUNCINE reaffirms its commitment to environmental outreach, scientific culture, and public awareness, building bridges between cinema, science, and society to inspire positive change for the planet.
The Conference on Nature Conservation celebrates its fourth edition in 2025, and La Seu d’Urgell is now firmly established as a reference hub for environmental communication and debate in the Pyrenees, thanks to its privileged setting between the Alt Pirineu Natural Park and the Cadí-Moixeró Natural Park.
This unique environment makes the city an ideal meeting point to reflect on the major environmental challenges we face, while also connecting scientific knowledge, territorial management, and civil society.
The main theme of this year’s edition is unknown fauna and its connection to climate change. It focuses on animal groups often missing from mainstream conservation narratives —such as bats, small mammals, reptiles, and insects— yet essential to ecosystem functioning: they pollinate, control pests, renew the soil, disperse seeds, and ultimately sustain the natural balance.
Through panel discussions, lectures, and cultural activities, the conference will bring together scientists, managers, communicators, and artists, offering a broad and interdisciplinary vision. And, as always, the audience is not a passive observer, but rather the heart of the discussion: each session is built around their active participation, promoting knowledge exchange and collective proposals toward a more sustainable future.
