SUNCINE and the University of Barcelona present a professional session exploring how documentary filmmaking can transform a complex environmental issue into an accessible, rigorous and emotionally engaging story.
The session will begin with a screening of Fire Wine. Vineyards as Fire Prevention, a documentary examining the role of vineyards and mosaic landscapes as tools for resilience and wildfire prevention.
Following the screening, the team from La Kaseta Ideas Factory will guide students through the film’s real production journey: from developing the initial idea, securing funding and writing the script to choosing locations, filming with scientists and winegrowers, editing, distribution and its journey through the festival circuit.
The event will offer insight into how producers decide which stories deserve to become documentaries, how scientific rigour can be combined with audiovisual storytelling, and how filmmakers can work within a European or institutional project while retaining an independent, human and cinematic perspective.
La Kaseta will also present its production philosophy, which understands communication as a tool for change, seeks out human stories that are often overlooked by mainstream media, and incorporates sustainability into both its content and its production processes.
More than a screening followed by a discussion, this will be a masterclass built around a real documentary production. It is particularly aimed at students interested in documentary filmmaking, executive production, environmental communication and new forms of audiovisual storytelling with social impact.
