The MONARCA DOCUMENTARY section of the 33rd SUNCINE presents twelve documentary short films, demonstrating that a brief story can offer a powerful perspective on the planet. These twelve films emerge from different territories and cultures, bringing us closer to people, communities and species united by a common purpose: to protect life and transform the realities around them.

The selection explores the conservation of threatened species such as the bearded vulture, the leatherback turtle and the armadillo; the defence of rivers, wetlands, seas and the Amazon rainforest; and the recovery of ancestral knowledge that understands nature as an inseparable part of community life. It also addresses food waste, recycling, plastic pollution, renewable energy and the memory of the animals that survived the Fukushima disaster.

MONARCA DOCUMENTARY brings together stories of resilience, care and hope, travelling from the Pyrenees to the Amazon and from Mexico to Thailand, China and Japan. Twelve films that transform individual actions and local experiences into a universal reflection on our shared responsibility to preserve the planet.
