FROM CREATION TO AUDIENCE: A CINEMA WITH SOUL
Ethics in the audiovisual sector and its link to sustainability
For many years, SUNCINE has been working to promote sustainability within the film industry, minimizing the ecological footprint across all areas of production, exhibition, distribution, and commercialization of our works.
Throughout this time, we have reflected deeply on the ecological footprint —one of the essential pillars of sustainability— but we often overlook others that are equally fundamental. In addition to environmental protection, economic viability, and social equity, there is a fourth pillar that lies at the root of it all: ethics.
Without a solid ethical foundation, it is nearly impossible to achieve true sustainability in the broadest sense within our industry.
Assumpta Serna and Scott Cleverdon have been working for years on an Ethical Code for the Audiovisual Sector (CBPA), which encompasses all stages of audiovisual creation: from development and production to promotion, festival management, and every area involved in the making of a film.
For this reason, the session we propose this year is based on the work led by Assumpta and Scott, members of ABPAU(Association of Good Practices in the Audiovisual Sector) and Familia de Cine (FdC), with the goal of analyzing and disseminating how to apply these ethical principles across our professional activities.
